  • Netezza Data Warehouse Appliance Usage 5.0 (required)

Format
Instructor Led (lecture only)

Objectives
After completing this course you should know how to:

  • Maintain Netezza databases using non-locking reclaims
  • Organize table data using Clustered Base Table
  • Improve Workload Management
  • Use Multi-destination Backup and Restoral techniques
  • Design User Defined Functions and User Defined Aggregates (UDX)

Introduction to R for SAS Users

Duration: 1.5 days

Purpose
Many R users are new to R, but not new to analytic programming. Experienced SAS users will find that R has some similarities with SAS, but is very different in many ways and requires a different mindset to master. Once the basic differences are understood, SAS users will find the power and flexibility of R's object-oriented framework readily apparent. This course provides a foundation for programming in R specifically for those familiar with SAS. The working knowledge that you'll gain from this course is a prerequisite for the IBM Netezza Analytics Data Mining Course that will be offered in August.

Audience
This course is intended for Data Scientists and Analytic Modelers including Statisticians, Data Miners, Quantitative Analysts and Analytic Developers, who use SAS and are new
to R.

Student Prerequisites
Before taking this course, you should have the following background:

  • Knowledge of SAS
  • Basis Data Analysis concepts

Format
Instructor Led (lecture only)

Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the R computing environment
  • Access and manipulate data in R to replace use of the SAS Data Step
  • Create R programming constructs to manipulate objects and program logic
  • Replace common SAS summary and tabulation procedures
  • Create plots and charts to convert from SAS/GRAPH
  • Build statistical models for hypothesis testing aka PROC TEST, ANOVA, GLM, etc.
  • Write your own R functions
  • Use R packages (i.e. topic-specific libraries of R functions)
  • Get help with R
