Track 4: Reverse Engineering Google's Page Rank Algorithm - A Classic Big Data Analytics Problem Solved with TwinFin In-Database Analytics
Speakers: Zach Marburger, Director of Online Marketing, Trident Marketing; Partha Sen, CEO, Fuzzy Logix; Russ Jones, CTO, Virante, Inc.

Ever since Sergey Brin and Larry Page created their first version of the Google search algorithm, understanding the factors that are used to rank web sites and their relative position in the results page has become one of the most significant analytics problem of our generation. Organizations spend millions of dollars each year in Search Engine Optimization techniques so that their pages show up high on Google's search engine results page. Google has kept its ranking algorithm a secret and keeps constantly refining and tuning it to keep hackers at bay. In this session, you will see a live demonstration of how Trident Marketing and Fuzzy Logix have used Netezza's predictive analytics capabilities to reverse engineer Google's page rank algorithm. They will show you how they identified the factors that are important in page ranking and how the weights of each of these factors have been derived. This is a classic example of Big Data using the analytical features of TwinFin. In order to have statistical relevance, this analysis is done across hundreds of thousands of websites using tens of millions of impressions.

Track 4: Completing the Picture: Moving from Big Data to Extreme Information - Sid Probstein, Attivio
Speaker: Sid Probstein, CTO, Attivio

Interest in analyzing and creating value from the deluge of customer, machine and sensor-generated data - log files, click streams, position data, etc. - is at an all time high. While analytic database management systems and massively parallel processing address the sheer volume of data, significant challenges still exist in their ability to handle the variety and complexity of information that can give you the complete picture that drives meaningful value. Consider all the other sources of information that contain important insights about employee, partner and customer behavior and opinions. There is a wealth of value that is today largely untapped by many organizations -- emails, open-ended survey questions, web forms, call logs, discussion boards, SharePoint and Wiki sites to name just a few. Join Attivio CTO Sid Probstein to learn how leading organizations are deploying unified information access to bridge these gaps and moving beyond Big Data to achieve what Gartner calls Extreme Information.
