How do I find the current schedule of classes?
Go to this URL to find the latest schedule.

When are regional classes scheduled?
Regional classes are scheduled based on demand from our customers and partners. Look at the class schedule and Netezza education site for dates and locations.

How do I use my training credits?
Once you register on the system, your login account is tied to your training credits. As you purchase courses, your training account is debited. In the checkout process, you will see the amount used and the balance of the transaction will be $0.00.

How do I enroll in a course?
First, you need to register on the system. Once registered, we will associate your login to your account. Then, you can enroll in any class you wish by selecting the “Enroll” link. Note: you need to completely checkout. The system will send you an email confirmation for your enrollment and order.

What is a training credit?
A training credit represents a unit of money that can be applied to the cost of Netezza education.

What is the cost of onsite training at my facility?
The cost of onsite training at a customer/partner facility varies. Please contact Netezza Education or your account representative for details and costs.

How do I take a web course?
In order to take a web course, you first need to enroll in the course. Once you login to the system with your login and password, you need to select the “Enroll” menu option. Select the web course you wish to take and checkout. Once you have checked out of the system, Netezza will send you all the information on how to take the course.

What is the difference between classroom and web courses?
The only difference between classroom and web courses is there is no live instructor. The web courses offer slides, notes and a lecture via a Flash interface. In addition, you have access to the training manual. The Netezza firewall automatically opens up to allow you access to the Netezza training servers.

Do I need to bring a notebook to class?
If you are attending a customer onsite class or UK/regional based class, then you do need to bring a notebook that is configured for DHCP for wireless or wired connectivity. Classes taken at Netezza Headquarters do not require a notebook, but you may bring your own if you wish.

Can I see the system files owned by user 'nz'?
Yes on the training server we allows student the ability to 'see' the contents of the system configuration files and logs.

What do I do if I can not log in to https://partner.netezza.com?
If you can't login to the partner portal https://partner.netezza.com, you might want to wait a few minutes for the system to populate your account to all the appropriate firewalls. If after an hour you still can not login, then please send an email to education@netezza.com.

How do I reset my password on the education system?
In order to change your password on the education system, you need to login and go to the menu 'My Account' and select the option 'Edit Your Contact Information', change your password and hit the 'Submit Information' button.

How do I access Netezza documentation?
You can access the Netezza documentation via two methods. Method one is to change directory to the directory called; /mnt/software/4.5.0.GA.

The file that contains the documentation is called; doc.package.tar.z. The second method is to access the same file on ftp://ntzftp.netezza.com. In order to access this server you need an account, and need to send a request to education@netezza.com.

How do I get printed class manuals?
Manuals are available online. Instructions on how to access will automatically be emailed to you.

How many training credits do I have?
In order to find out how many training credits I have, you need to send an email to education@netezza.com to find out the balance.

How do I cancel my classroom registration?
You can cancel your classroom enrollment at anytime, but in order to get back the used training credits, you need to send an email to education@netezza.com seven calendar days prior to the start of the class.

How do I know if I'm enrolled in a class?
In order to be confirmed in a class, you need to receive a confirmation email from the Netezza education system. This email will have your order number in the email.

When I enroll, I get this message, and what does it mean?
The message below means that you are trying to enroll in to a class without logging in to the system.

Your Training Account is Expired
[ Go Back ], the education account for the organization called None (10363), has expired. This means the training credits have expired. Please contact education@netezza.com to get this resolved.


The system doesn't know who you are so it is assuming that you are from an organization called 'None'. Please login to the system and enroll. This way the system will know who you are, and allow the checkout process to complete.

My company has training credits, but how come I see a cost when I try to checkout?
Even though your company does have training credits, and the total cost will be $0.00 when you checkout, the system needs to calculate the credits needed to cover the cost of the course.

So, when you place courses in your shopping basket, there will be a cost, but as you step thru the checkout process you will see the cost of the transaction become $0.00.

I'm a Netezza Partner, how do I re-enroll to keep my partner access active?
If you are a Netezza partner and wish to keep your Netezza Development Partner access active, you need to re-enroll in the course called Netezza Development Partner Access Program. When you checkout the system will grant you an automatic extension to the program.

I types 'nzsql' and got a password authentication error - How come?
When you login to a hosted Netezza server you need to access the database with your credentials. So if you type nzsql you need to specify your login and password via the -u and -pw options.

How come I can't access the NPS Web Admin?
In some cases the access to the NPS Web Admin is blocked because there is a web server running on the computer that you are using. So, this will cause a conflict on port 80. To get around this you need to stop the web server or process that is using port 80 on your computer.

If you look in the details tab in the window in the lower right hand corner of your computer, you will see something like this:

How do I get a copy of the Windows Admin tool?
In order to get a copy of the Windows Admin tool you need to change directory to /mnt/software/4.5.0.GA and download the 'setup.exe' file.

Where do I find out details on the Bronze/Silver/Gold certification?
In order to find out about certification, go to this URL.

Where do I find out the cost and details for the three levels of certification?
You can log in to the education system and click on enroll. Then select Category called 'Certification', click 'Search Now'. Once the list of courses show up, you can see the cost. If you click on the course title you will be able to see all the details.

Why are there three levels for Silver certification?
There are three levels for Silver certification because the Silver certification started when NPS 3.0 was GA.
As new versions of NPS came out then new Silver certifications where releases for each major version; 4.0 and 4.5.

The questions in the 3.0 release still apply to version 4.0 and 4.5, and the content is still taught in the NPS classes. In the future we will consolidate all the questions in to one test.

How come after I login I can't change directory to my home directory?
When you account is created on the firewall, it takes about 30-60 minutes to get the home directories created on the training servers. If the home directory is not created in 30-60 minutes then please send an email to education@netezza.com.

How do I use a promotion key?
A promotion key is a unique key (code) that can be used to get discounted education. These keys are given to individual companies and are restricted to those companies. When you check out there will be a field in the checkout process that will allow you to enter the promotion code. Once entered then the next step in the checkout process will apply the discount.

Do I need to bring my notebook to class?
The only location where you do not need to bring a notebook is at Netezza HQ. All other locations including London UK require you to bring a notebook for class.

How do I find out my login and password?
To get your login and password information, go to this URL, and enter your email address.

What happens if I do not succeed on my first attempt at certification?
If you do not succeed at your first attempt at certification, you can take the test again after 30 days.

How many times can I attempt to get certified?
You can take the certification as many times as you wish.
