HIGH-PERFORMANCE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE COMES TO SME MARKET WITH HOSTED NETEZZA ANALYSIS AT INERGY

Dutch reseller uses Netezza data warehouse appliance for hosted Business Intelligence (BI) services for Batavia Stad, Yarden, AD Nieuwsmedia, Advance and Nationale Hypotheek Garantie

Woerden, The Netherlands — December 18, 2008 — Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ), today announced that its high-performance data warehouse appliance technology has come to the medium enterprise market in The Netherlands. The Company’s Dutch reseller and consultancy partner, Inergy, is powering customer, sales performance and market analytics for organizations such as Batavia Stad, Yarden, AD Nieuwsmedia, Advance and Nationale Hypotheek Garantie. Working with MicroStrategy, Cognos, Business Objects and Infomatica software tools, Inergy claims it now hosts one of the largest data warehouse infrastructures in Holland and is enabling mid-sized organizations to take advantage of the high-performance BI already being exploited by other larger Dutch Netezza users such as Center Parcs and FloraHolland.

Peter Dieleman, Sales Director at Inergy explained, “The hosted Netezza model is bringing highly sophisticated BI to smaller enterprises. The ability to perform more complex queries, quickly with minimal down time allows these organizations to better respond to changes in their competitive markets. Many medium enterprises often lack the ‘money’ and the necessary expertise to manage and maintain their BI environment themselves. So, an outsourced data warehouse; at a much lower cost as an in-house system makes a compelling proposition.”

Outlet shopping centre, Batavia Stad, runs weekly performance reports for its shop clients detailing customer footfall and sales performance in order to motivate them and plan for improvements. Meanwhile, Yarden, a funeral services and insurance company has moved away from traditional legacy solution for management information, market analysis and sales reporting across its one million customers. One of the largest media and newspaper companies in Holland, AD Nieuwsmedia uses the Netezza platform for data mining subscriber information for direct marketing, and new media and internet community organization, Advance uses BI in order to achieve a single view of its members. The Home Ownership Guarantee Fund, Nationale Hypotheek Garantie is now using Netezza for company-wide reporting.

Joe Napoli, Director of International Distribution at Netezza added, “These companies can now profit from innovative and scalable technology at highly competitive rates by only paying for the storage capacity they actually use. Supported by Inergy’s service level agreements (SLAs) and service desk, users simply access their reports and analysis environment via a secure connection to the Netezza system.”

The Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) family of data warehouse appliances is designed specifically for high-performance, terascale analytics and architecturally integrates a relational database, server and storage into a single compact and power-efficient unit. The system’s advantage comes from its patented streaming architecture. Netezza has placed processing power next to the data, so analysis occurs at the source at streaming speeds, delivering an unprecedented 10-100 times the performance of traditional systems at a fraction of the cost. Analyses that took days now take just seconds. This means a dramatic increase in productivity across the enterprise and faster time to value for business initiatives. Netezza appliances are changing the way organizations leverage information, creating a powerful analytic foundation for a new generation of business analytics that improve strategic decision-making and drive results.
