LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY TO DEMONSTRATE GROUND-BREAKING APPLICATION ON NETEZZA AT DoDIIS

Semantic Analysis and Visualization Software to Leverage High-Performance Appliance

2008 DoDIIS Worldwide Conference, San Diego, Calif. — March 17, 2008 — Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ), the global leader in data warehouse and analytic appliances, today announced that Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) will demonstrate its XKE (Extreme Knowledge Extraction) Semantic Analysis and Visualization software on the Netezza appliance. Livermore’s XKE software provides rapid ingest and query capabilities for analyzing large volumes of semantic data.

National security requirements for analyzing and visualizing massive sets of structured data without compromising performance has spurred scientists at Livermore to collaborate with innovative commercial firms and develop ground-breaking applications to meet those needs. With its patented streaming architecture, the Netezza Performance Server® appliance delivers extreme high performance for intense analytical queries such as those made possible by XKE, without the high cost and complex tuning typically associated with multi-terabyte and petabyte databases.

“We are advancing the state-of-the-art in terms of performance and scalability,” said Kyle Halliday, computer scientist at LLNL. “Together we are applying novel approaches to challenging problems.”

"A productive partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is a key component of Netezza's commitment to contributing to missions in the national interest,” said Jeff Kidwell, vice president and general manager, Netezza Federal Systems. “We are excited by the many innovations made possible through this collaborative effort, and look forward to further advancements together."

This demonstration will take place in the Netezza booth (booth #203) at the 2008 DoDIIS Worldwide Conference in San Diego, California, March 17-19, 2008.
