Industry Veteran Brings Wealth of Technology and Business Experience to Analytic Appliance Leader

Framingham, Mass. — December 4, 2007 — Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ), the global leader in analytic appliances, today announced that it has named Peter Gyenes as a member of its Board of Directors. With over four decades of enterprise software and systems experience, Gyenes brings to Netezza deep insight on how to scale technology companies successfully.

Prior to joining Netezza’s Board of Directors, Gyenes served as chairman and CEO of Ascential Software, which was acquired by IBM in 2005. Before Ascential, Gyenes was chairman and CEO of Informix Corporation and led the sale of the company’s database business to IBM and the transition from Informix to Ascential. Gyenes joined Informix through its acquisition of Ardent Software, where he served as chairman, president and CEO. Before joining Ardent, Gyenes was president and CEO of Racal Interlan. Previously, Gyenes served in sales, marketing and general management positions at Data General, Encore Computer and Prime Computer. Earlier in his career, Gyenes held sales and technical positions at Xerox Data Systems and IBM. Gyenes is a graduate of Columbia University, where he received both a B.A. in mathematics and an MBA. He also serves on the boards of a number of public and privately held technology companies, and the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.

“We are pleased to welcome Peter as a member of the Netezza Board of Directors,” said Jit Saxena, chairman and CEO of Netezza. “With his distinguished career and deep expertise in the technology sector, Peter will bring strategic insight as well as extensive real-world experience to Netezza.”

“Netezza pioneered the data warehouse appliance approach and built a significant and fast-growing business in this market,” said Gyenes. “I am excited to be part of the company’s next phase, and help Netezza continue to succeed in its broader vision of driving high-performance analytics into the mainstream through appliance innovation.”

Outgoing Board member, Sunil Dhaliwal of Battery Ventures, has served on the Netezza Board of Directors since 2005, providing valuable insight and support during the company’s early growth through its successful IPO in July 2007.

“We thank Sunil for his active role on the Netezza Board over the past few years,” said Jit Saxena. “Sunil’s energy, enthusiasm and experience with high-growth companies in the IT industry have all contributed significantly to Netezza’s growth.”
