NETEZZA EXPANDS CUSTOMER BASE AND STRENGTHENS EVALUATION PROGRAM IN JAPAN

Japanese Customers Across Multiple Industries Roll Out Netezza Data Warehouse Appliance

Tokyo, Japan. — June 20, 2007 — Netezza Corporation, a leading provider of data warehouse appliances, today announced continued growth for its Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system in the Japanese market.

Netezza has installed more than 10 systems at several leading Japanese companies across multiple industries, including retail, manufacturing, consumer goods, e-business, financial services and travel. The companies have selected Netezza’s data warehouse appliances to drive a new generation of data-intensive analytics not possible under the constraints of old, complex and expensive data warehouse systems.

Netezza also announced further strengthening of its evaluation program in Japan. This program allows companies to load terabytes of their unmodified data on an NPS system and test using their own queries, all in a matter of days. Netezza plans to add additional servers in its Tokyo data center, which will allow prospects to load and test more than 25TB of user data. Query performance is often 10 to 100 times faster than a company’s existing system. Netezza’s engineers do the work, and provide a full report of tasks performed along with load and query performance, all at no cost to a prospect. Prospective companies are also welcome to participate in the testing to verify these high levels of performance are achieved with absolutely no tuning.

“The reaction to the evaluation program from Japan companies has been very positive,” explained Etzel. “Some of our prospects don’t believe the results at first so we invite them to come over and run additional, ad hoc queries in order to experience the performance and ease of use first-hand.”
