In addition, Netezza now offers even more flexible and modular pricing for its data warehouse appliances, widening the Company’s price/performance leadership and making it even easier for customers to purchase according to their growth needs.

Through innovations in hardware and software, the NPS 10000 Series product line, which now scales from half-rack to eight-rack systems, leverages the comprehensive features and benefits of Release 3 of the software, delivering increased performance and improved functionality. Customers can now bring the NPS system’s high performance, simplicity and value to a broader range of data warehouse configurations and applications throughout the enterprise.

More Powerful and Flexible Features to Support Large Enterprise Deployments
To meet customer demand for growing multi-user and mixed workload environments, Netezza has made significant enhancements to the current version of the NPS system. Workload management capabilities that make the system even more attractive for large and complex enterprise-wide data warehouses include:

• Guaranteed resource allocation for optimal distribution of resources among users
• Prioritized query execution to schedule queries and processing power based on user assigned priorities
• Short query bias, ensuring that users performing short queries are not impacted by users executing lengthy and complex multi-terabyte queries
• Materialized views that significantly increase query performance – especially for short queries – by reducing the amount of data transferred from the disk during scans

More Modular Pricing
Netezza has also enhanced its popular flexible pricing program by making the program even more modular for easier scalability. Customers purchase the full performance of a system, utilizing all the processing power available, while only paying for the capacity they need. As customers’ data grows, they can now scale up in single terabyte increments, purchasing additional capacity at a very low price per terabyte. Organizations can also easily scale their systems out by purchasing additional racks.
