Tokyo, Japan—20th October 2005—Netezza, the market-leading provider of enterprise-class data warehouse appliances, has strengthened its operations in Japan by forming a partnership with Information Services International – Dentsu, Ltd. (ISID), a leading systems integration firm headquartered in Tokyo.
Under the partnership, ISID and Netezza will jointly market Netezza’s data warehouse appliances to Japanese firms in the financial, retail, online, catalog, travel, communications and manufacturing industries. The Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system delivers 10-50 times the performance at half the cost of traditional data warehouse systems, allowing firms in these industries to fully analyze and leverage customer and operational data to gain a competitive advantage.
ISID, a Dentsu group company, will leverage its rich experience in development and deployment of marketing related systems to offer Enterprise Marketing Management, Business Intelligence, and other solutions built on the Netezza Performance Server system.
Netezza’s international expansion follows a record setting year in which the company realized substantial growth and momentum in the data warehousing industry. Netezza’s success has been underscored by a significant increase in market adoption of its NPS data warehouse appliance. Organizations using Netezza are doing so out of a need for greater business intelligence, so they can analyze buyer behavior, track usage patterns, reduce customer churn, track fraud, analyze click streams and provide intelligence for cross-selling and up-selling.
Since introducing the NPS data warehouse appliance to the market in 2003, Netezza has shipped over 70 systems worldwide. Earlier this year, the Company announced the NPS 10000 Series, which scales to accommodate 100 terabytes of data. Netezza views Japan as a strategic market:
“We launched our operation here earlier this year and feedback from some of the largest firms in Japan indicates that Netezza’s value proposition of break-through performance and ease of use will hit home here in Japan just as it has in the US and Europe,” says Doug Etzel, General Manager of Netezza in North Asia. “ISID brings not only marketing and system integration expertise, but as part of the Dentsu group they have a strong reputation with top-tier customers across Japan. We look forward to working with them to provide innovative data warehousing solutions to the Japan market.”
Kensuke Fujie, Sr. Executive Director at ISID explained “Netezza provides an excellent data warehouse platform for our Marketing and Business Intelligence solutions. Compared to existing technologies, Netezza will allow our clients to better understand their customers’ behavior and needs, and quickly and efficiently execute marketing programs to meet those needs.”
The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 50 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognised the performance benefits of Netezza’s approach include Ahold USA, Amazon.com, Catalina Marketing, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Neiman Marcus, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.
