NETEZZA GATHERS CUSTOMERS, PARTNERS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS TO DISCUSS BEST PRACTICES FOR DATA WAREHOUSING

First Annual Netezza User Conference Draws Nearly 200 Attendees

Framingham, Mass.—June 1, 2005—Netezza Corporation today announced the tremendous success of its inaugural user conference. The event, which took place May 16-18 in Cambridge, Mass., offered nearly 200 of Netezza’s customers, partners and prospects the opportunity to connect with peers and industry luminaries to share ideas and learn best practices for maximizing the power of the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system to meet data warehousing needs.

In addition to providing a forum for customers and partners to gain insight into leveraging Netezza’s technology, the Company also provided attendees with numerous corporate and product roadmap updates. As part of Netezza’s partner program overview, the Company was pleased to present Systech Solutions with the Netezza Partner of the Year Award for inking three deals with Netezza over the past year.

The Netezza user conference offered an educational setting for attendees by packing its two-day agenda with presentations delivered by Netezza partners and representatives, as well as customers including Acxiom, Ahold USA and Amazon.com. Billy Beane, general manager of Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s and protagonist of Michael Lewis’ bestseller Moneyball, was the event’s featured keynote presenter. Additionally, Mark Beyer, senior program director at Gartner; independent consultant Charles Garry and Dan Vesset, research director, Analytics and Data Warehousing Software at IDC, participated in the panel discussion, “Disruptive Trends in Data Warehousing,” moderated by InformationWeek senior editor Rick Whiting.

“With data volumes on the rise, the demand for the appliance model over traditional architectures will likely grow as well,” said Dan Vesset research director, Analytics and Data Warehousing Software at IDC. “Companies like Netezza that can provide scalable, powerful, low-cost solutions will be at the forefront in solving today’s data center pain points.”

“The high number of conference attendees, coupled with the fact that almost all of our customers sent several representatives to the event, clearly illustrates the enthusiasm in the market for our product and company,” said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder, Netezza Corp. “The combination of customers and partners, which ranged from senior-level executives to hands-on users, created a very collaborative environment. We look forward to using the feedback we gained from all attendees to build on our commitment to delivering the industry’s most powerful, cost-effective data warehouse appliance.”

Netezza user conference attendees capped off the event with several informal networking activities, and received complimentary autographed copies of both Michael Lewis’ Moneyball and Possible Dream, authored by Vin Femia, vice president of software development, Netezza Corp. The proceeds of Femia’s book, which chronicles the 2004 Red Sox season and their World Series win, will be donated to the ALS Association.

The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 50 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized the performance benefits of Netezza’s approach include Ahold USA, Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.
