Data Warehouse Appliance Pioneer Extends Product Family Performance and Functionality; Introduces the NPS 10000 Series
Framingham, Mass.—May 16, 2005—Netezza Corporation today announced it has expanded the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system family of products to meet customer demand for large data warehouse functionality. With the introduction of the NPS 10000 Series, Netezza’s product line will now scale to 100 terabytes of data. In addition, release 3.0 of the NPS system extends the unbeatable price/performance benefits of Netezza’s technology to a broader set of applications and workloads across many markets.
The NPS 10000 Series introduces two new models – the NPS 10400 and NPS 10800 – that can scale to accommodate very large database sizes of 50 and 100 terabytes. In addition to supporting some of the world’s largest data sizes, the NPS product family is enhanced with release 3.0 of its software, which delivers improved functionality, including:
These capabilities strengthen Netezza’s leadership in tactical, operational queries – in addition to the largest, most complex queries. As a result, customers across a broad range of industries can utilize an unrivaled system for a wide variety of data analytics applications and workloads within the enterprise environment.
“With the introduction of release 3.0 and the NPS 10000 Series, we can now meet the growing market demand for even greater scalability and a broader spectrum of workloads, applications and user requirements,” said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder of Netezza Corp. “We are excited to deliver these capabilities, while at the same time strengthening our price/performance leadership.”
The Netezza Performance Server system is the market-leading data warehouse
appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 50
times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS
system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit,
analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the
CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes
that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby
enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization. Customers
who have recognized the performance benefits of Netezza’s approach include
Ahold USA, Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Orange UK,
Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.
Availability
Release 3.0 of the Netezza Performance Server system will be generally available
in October 2005. The 10400 and 10800 models of the NPS 10000 Series will be
generally available in December 2005. For additional information call (508)
