Company Signs 12 New Customers; Kicks Off 2005 with Record Growth and Momentum
Framingham, Mass.—February 28, 2005—Netezza Corporation today announced that in 2004 it added 12 new customers to its client roster, including Acxiom Corporation, Ahold USA, Amazon.com and TELUS Mobility. Netezza closed a record-setting fiscal year by doubling its customer list and increasing its sales by 74% over the previous year. The company enters 2005 with a significant increase in market adoption, growth and momentum in the data warehousing industry.
In the short time since it began shipping the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) data warehouse appliance in early 2003, Netezza has sold 51 systems to companies around the world, bringing its customer base to 23. Of the NPS systems sold, three are 8650 models, Netezza’s largest product configuration, which can process 27 terabytes of information.
Netezza reports that it has sold 340 terabytes of usable data storage capacity, which is over one petabyte of total data storage, to its customers across a broad range of industries. The company anticipates these metrics will continue to rise as data volumes across industries grow at a remarkable pace and more businesses seek cost-effective solutions for analyzing deeper levels of data.
“It is exciting to see a company like Netezza grow quickly and gain momentum in such a highly competitive marketplace,” said Ed Zander, chairman and CEO, Motorola and Netezza Board Member. “Netezza’s blue-chip customer base is a testament to the company’s value proposition of delivering breakthrough enterprise-class data warehousing to organizations across the globe.”
“While our sales growth is certainly a remarkable achievement, we are especially proud of the fact that a large portion of our sales represent repeat business from existing customers,” said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO of Netezza Corp. “This demonstrates the business value our customers have realized with the NPS system, and also illustrates that Netezza is a company that is easy to do business with – an attribute that is vital to our ongoing relationships with customers and partners.”
The Netezza Performance Server system is the only data warehouse appliance
built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data – 10 to 50 times
faster than existing data warehouses, at half the cost. The NPS system stores,
filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only
the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next
to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy
most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic
increases in productivity across the organization. Customers who have recognized
the performance benefits of Netezza’s approach include Acxiom Corporation,
Ahold USA, Cingular Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc.,
Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and The TJX Companies.
