Framingham, Mass.—June 16, 2004—Netezza Corporation today announced that the Company debuted in Gartner Inc.’s Magic Quadrant for Data Warehousing Database Management Systems (DBMSs) for 20041. Netezza is the first new company to be introduced into the Magic Quadrant for Data Warehousing DBMSs since 2001. In addition to its debut in the Magic Quadrant, Netezza was named a “Cool Vendor in Data Warehousing” in a report co-authored by Strange in March of this year2.
Since its introduction last year, the Netezza Performance Server™ (NPS™) data warehouse appliance has won a landslide of industry praise. Just last month, Netezza’s innovation and success earned the company a spot on the “Red Herring 100” list of top private companies. NPS systems have been selected and deployed by leading companies in telecommunications, retail, the life sciences and other industries to power their business intelligence efforts, including: AT&T Wireless, Orange UK, The TJX Companies, Premier, Inc., Caudwell Communications, Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and Epsilon.
“The past eighteen months have been extremely successful for Netezza and inclusion in the Magic Quadrant is just another example of the Company’s growing momentum,” said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO of Netezza Corp. “We’re seeing dramatic growth in sales to Fortune 1000 companies. In addition, many of our existing customers have returned for repeat purchases after rapidly deploying the NPS system with impressive results.”
The NPS system architecturally integrates servers, storage and a relational database into a single powerful, enterprise-class appliance created from the outset to process queries faster and enable complex analysis that was not previously possible because of large and fast-growing data sizes. This unprecedented analysis enables companies to harness information located in tens, even hundreds, of terabytes of data in order to lower costs, reduce risk and fraud, strengthen customer relationships and keep pace with ever-changing market trends.
