NETEZZA CORPORATION NAMED A “COMPANY TO WATCH” IN 2004 BY INTELLIGENT ENTERPRISE

CMP Media’s Intelligent Enterprise Magazine Recognizes Netezza as a Company Providing Strong Vision, Market Leadership and Technology Innovation

Framingham, Mass.—December 22, 2003—Netezza Corporation has been named to the “2004 Editors Choice Awards: Companies to Watch” list by the editors of Intelligent Enterprise magazine. This prestigious recognition highlights “companies providing the strongest vision, market leadership, and technology innovation to our readers in their quest to align IT with business objectives.” The list appears in the January 1, 2004 issue of the publication, published by CMP Media.

Netezza “seems poised to challenge NCR Corp. subsidiary Teradata” in the high-end data warehousing market, according to Intelligent Enterprise. The editors were impressed by the recent launch of a new class of Netezza products that have “doubled the performance and tripled the capacity of the Netezza Performance Server™ (NPS™).”

The Intelligent Enterprise award caps off a year in which Netezza experienced rapid company growth and significant demand for its NPS appliance. Over the course of 2003, the company signed major customer wins in a number of key vertical markets, including telecommunications, retail, life sciences and healthcare. Some of those customers include Orange UK and Reach Telecom. Netezza also established partnerships with leading companies, including fellow Intelligent Enterprise winners Ascential Software, Business Objects, Informatica and MicroStrategy. Additionally, Netezza secured a second round of venture funding and was the recipient of a number of prestigious industry awards.

“2003 has been an exceptional year for Netezza. Since the NPS system’s ground-breaking introduction last fall, we’ve realized rapid customer and partner growth, as well as recognition from the media, analyst and venture capital communities,” said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder of Netezza. “Netezza is fundamentally changing the economics of data warehousing by delivering a 10 to 50 times performance boost in an easy-to-use appliance that is half the cost of existing systems. With the ability to access and analyze data faster than ever, Fortune 1000 companies can enhance their bottom line, improve customer services and keep pace with ever-changing market trends. We’re honored by this recognition and looking forward to continued momentum in 2004.”
