NETEZZA APPOINTS BILL BLAKE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Former Compaq Executive and Industry Veteran to Lead Product Development and Direction
for Netezza's Breakthrough Tera-Scale Data Appliance

Framingham, Mass.-July 29, 2002-Netezza Corporation today announced that Bill Blake has joined the company as senior vice president of product development. In this position, Blake will lead the development team and provide strategic direction for Netezza as it brings its first product to market. Netezza's purpose-built, tera-scale data appliance will enable real-time business intelligence (BI) for Fortune 1000 businesses and partners who need faster, more sophisticated data analysis.

Blake brings more than two decades of industry experience in the product management and development of high performance computing systems to Netezza. Most recently, Blake served as vice president of High Performance Technical Computing (HPTC) at Compaq (NYSE: HPQ) where he was responsible for the development and marketing of HPTC solutions including the company's massively parallel AlphaServer SC supercomputers. "Bill's experience in developing high performance technology solutions will make him an integral part of our engineering and senior management team as we bring a new generation of tera-scale data appliances to the market," said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO of Netezza Corporation.

"No existing solutions can touch the price/performance advantage that Netezza offers with its purpose-built, tera-scale data appliance," said Blake. "I look forward to working with the team to bring this exciting new product to market to meet the growing BI needs of the Fortune 1000."

Blake is the latest addition to Netezza's seasoned executive team, which has years of experience from some of the technology industry's most successful companies including Teradata, Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, Data General, Keane, Prime Computer, Stratus, Visual Networks, Avid and Applix.
