Netezza's conference held in Boston at the end of September attracted 500 attendees, which is modest compared to the 3,800 people that descended on Teradata's Partners event in Las Vegas earlier this week.
Attendees got a sneak preview of Netezza's new generation of analytics running on its appliance. Last month Netezza detailed a strategy that would widen the analytic opportunities for its Netezza Performance Server (NPS) appliance to more complex types of analysis. To that end the company also announced its Developer Network to encourage third-party developers, ISVs and systems integrators to access a network of online resources to develop analytic algorithms that take advantage of NPS' high-performance streaming query architecture.
The conference also gave customer a chance to network and share best practices on real-time analytics.
Ellen Rubin, vice president of marketing at Netezza, said that a survey conducted during the event "consistently ranked performance and the ability to make analytic-driven decisions" as the top challenges for real-time analytics
"Respondents also overwhelmingly stated that decision makers want information "as real-time as they can get it," more frequently than even daily or hourly."
"It's thrilling to see the growing Netezza community so engaged and eager to share successes," Rubin said.
Netezza is based in Framingham, Massachusetts, and this summer became the first data warehouse appliance specialist to IPO on NYSE. The company has around 110 customers to date spanning across 15 industries and 13 countries.
