Joins Netezza Board By Michelle Tsai FRAMINGHAM, MASS. -- Netezza, a provider of a hardware and software platform for managing databases, is expected to announce the appointment of Ed Zander, president and chief operating officer of Sun Microsystems, as director. Mr. Zander, an investor in Netezza, worked with Netezza CEO Jit Saxena at Data General and later at Sun when Mr. Saxena was CEO of Applix. Mr. Saxena said that given Mr. Zander's relationships and experience, Netezza may benefit from introductions to potential customers and from marketing advice. Mr. Zander recently announced that he will leave Sun this summer after 15 years with the company. He has also held senior positions at Data General and Apollo. Also on Netezza's board are David Schantz of Matrix Partners; Ted Dintersmith of Charles River Ventures; Ollie Curme of Battery Ventures; and Netezza co-founders Foster Hinshaw and Mr. Saxena. Netezza has raised more than $28 million from Battery Ventures, Charles River Ventures, and Matrix Partners. |
