Netezza launches integrated data box

By Jeff Miller

Netezza Corp. in Framingham has launched its first product, the Netezza Performance Server8000, a high-speed, tera-scale data appliance for the networks of large corporations.

The company claims the system, which will sell for $622,000, combines the functionality of a server, data storage device and database appliance.

Netezza, which was founded in September 2000, caused a stir among investors in January of this year as one of the few tech companies that had four venture capital firms competing to lead its B round.

Battery Ventures ultimately led Netezza’s $20 million B round. Previous investors Charles River Ventures and Matrix Partners also invested. The company has raised about $28 million.
