Netezza TwinFin i-Class™ is a scalable, massively parallel analytic appliance that lets you analyze truly massive data volumes, with large numbers of users, asking questions of the data that could not even be contemplated on other architectures. Netezza has added extensions to our core TwinFin appliance for development and execution of advanced analytics including support for Java, C++, Fortran, Python, MapReduce, Hadoop, SAS and R.
Until now, organizations have had to make a choice between data volume and analytic complexity. Most analytics performed on large data is relatively simple. Most infrastructures, based on traditional database technology, get easily overextended just keeping up with the growth in user and data volumes, leaving no room to accommodate increasing analytic complexity. With TwinFin i-Class, organizations no longer have to make a choice between Big Data and Big Math.
Performance
The TwinFin i-Class appliance's programming interfaces and parallelization options make it straightforward to move a majority of analytics inside the appliance, regardless of whether they are being performed using statistical tools such as SAS and R or written in languages such as Java,
Python or Fortran. By bringing analytics to the data, modelers and quant teams can operate on the data directly inside the appliance instead of having to move it to a different location and deal with the associated data preprocessing and transformation. Modelers can take full advantage of the asymmetric massively parallel processing (AMPP) architecture of TwinFin i-Class to ask the most complex questions on all the enterprise data, without the infrastructure getting in the way. They can iterate through different models more quickly to experiment and find the best fit.
Sophisticated workload management in the appliance allows modelers to work on their analytics problems without disrupting normal business operations. Data stays within a central repository instead of getting distributed and replicated all over the organization. Once the model is developed, it is seamless to execute it against all the relevant data in the enterprise. The prediction and scoring can be done right where the data resides, in line with other processing, on an as-needed basis. Users can get the results of prediction scores in near real-time, helping to operationalize advanced analytics and making it available throughout the enterprise.
