David Flaxman, Chief Scientist
With more than 25 years of technology innovation and strategic development, David serves as Chief Scientist for the IBM Netezza data warehouse appliance family. Early in his career David spent 10 years on Wall Street during which time he played a major role in ushering in a new generation of technology to the Street. Included among his accomplishments during this time was the concept and architecture for what later became Sybase’s Replication Server.
David spent 10 years in the consulting industry first with Sybase, then as Managing Partner of the Advanced Technology practice at KPMG, and finally as one of the founders of the consulting start-up Answerthink. During this time, David worked with a variety of clients on business and technology strategy as well as on a wide range of technology development and implementation projects. One of David’s key accomplishments during this time was the architecture, design and implementation of a large-scale data warehouse for a major telecommunications company using an innovative, home-grown massively parallel architecture.
As Chief Scientist, David will be focused on positioning the Company for continued rapid growth and to broaden the impact that it has on the technology industry and the success of its many customers.
David received his BA, Phi Beta Kappa and Summa cum Laude, from Michigan State University and his MA in Mathematical Logic from The Johns Hopkins University.
