Principal Business Applications Developer


Primary Objective:

Responsibilities include the development, integration, and support of internal business applications. A Business Applications Developer will be in a position where they will work with end users to define and document business applications requirements and work to develop solutions that meet those requirements. This position is one in which minimum supervision is required and initiative and self-motivation are critical.

This senior role requires strong project management skills as well as leadership qualities. A Senior Business Applications Developer is expected to manage several high level projects simultaneously as well as possess strong prioritization skills.

This position also requires the ability to analyze database structures, propose integration solutions, and develop the code to support the proposed solutions.

Accountability/Scope (range of responsibilities):

The Principal Business Applications Developer reports to the Sr. VP & CFO and is accountable for the development, integration, and support of internal business applications.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

• Work with end users to define and document business application requirements
• Develop solutions to meet defined requirements
• Perform day to day support of back-end applications when required
• Manage and maintain infrastructure
• Develop, support and maintain mechanisms that position the group to be proactive in supporting business applications
• Work with other members of the Information Systems group to develop overall system solutions for netezza
• Manage several projects simultaneously by organizing needed resources, setting realistic expectations, and delivering on commitments.
• Research new business application technologies in an effort to help choose appropriate business tools for the organization.

Desired Job Experience:

• At least 5 years experience in developing and supporting business applications
• At least 5 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience in Visual Basic, SQL Query Language
• Experience in the development of web based applications
• Experience in ASP and Javascript a plus
• Experience in any of the following a plus: salesforce.com, eEnterprise, Great Plains, Equity Edge
• Experience in Enterprise Reporting solutions (Business Intelligence) is a plus

Desired Education:

• MS or MBA a plus
• Bachelors of Science Degree
• Microsoft SQL certifications
• Microsoft development certifications
